Our minimum required head height is 2.25m, measured from the top of the ceiling joists to the underside of the ridge beam. Additionally, if your proposed loft conversion uses materials that differ significantly from your existing house—for example, building a modern glass box on top of your roof—this may require planning permission regardless of size limits. You’ll also need to apply if your home is in a conservation area, is listed, or if you’re planning larger structural changes, such as raising the roof or adding a front dormer.
